To live a healthy life is everybody’s quest. Unfortunately, it’s something that’s not really very easy to do because passions and appetites are very difficult to curve or bridle at times. But it can be done, and it does not really matter if you’re young or old, now is always the best time to start.

So if you are really determined to start living healthy, here are 4 easy tips for healthy living that are doable and very practical.

1. Drink Water!

Drink at least 8 glasses of water everyday. You sure have heard your Mom say this to you every mealtime, and she’s right! The body needs water to keep it hydrated. The body also needs water to function effectively and efficiently. For example, water is needed to flush toxins out of vital organs. Water is needed to carry nutrients to the cells. Water also provides a moist environment for the ear, the nose, and throat tissues.

2. Avoid all foods that are white!

The explanation is simple: they are white because they have been processed, and processed food is unhealthy. Go for the healthy foods. With bread for instance, eat whole wheat and not white bread. Instead of white rice, go for brown rice. Unprocessed food contains natural vitamins and minerals that benefit the body, so choose them over their unhealthy counterparts.

3. Exercise, Exercise, Exercise

Exercise is something that’s non-negotiable. It’s as simple as if you want to be healthy, you have to exercise.

Most people do not like to exercise, but it’s just because they don’t really understand the fact that exercise does not have to be difficult or punishing in nature. In reality, a simple 30 minute walk is already a good cardio exercise. Dancing is an aerobic exercise. Doing gardening, rearranging furniture, even washing your car are already forms of exercises as these activities burn calories.

Do you know that even fidgeting burns at least 200 calories in a day?

4. Get Enough Sleep.

Ideally, for adults, get at least 7 to 8 hours of sleep. This is essential because sleep restores cells. Sleep also helps in maintaining and improving the immune system and aids in the body’s healing process. Enough sleep also improves the skin, making it clean and clear (scares the acne away) and it gives the skin a beautiful glow.

Start living healthy now by doing these 4 easy and practical steps: drink 8 glasses of water; avoid “white” foods as much as possible; exercise at least 30 minutes a day; and lastly, sleep for 7 to 8 hours a day.
